The steady decline of Unix

T his over inflated headline appeared on slashdot in August 2013., as a rehash from NetworkWorld.

Unfortunately this has nothing to do with software, operating systems , nor Unix, but rather an indication that big-iron servers are loosing ground to more nimble hardware based on commodity technology.

Tell us something new. In a few years we will see the same headline about Linux loosing ground to Arm-based server hardware.

Another example of the the poor journalism we see in the Technology arena.

Unix as we experts know, is thriving in the embedded arena. Including the lessor known variants like QNX, Plan 9, OS9, and OpenBSD.
